Paul VanDeCarr, Managing Director and co-founder. Since 1995, Paul has worked as a writer, researcher, and strategist for nonprofits and foundations, especially in the areas of media, arts, and religion. He wrote the Working Narratives guide of grantmakers on “Storytelling and Social Change,” and has authored or co-authored such publications as “Media and Movement Building: The Five Best Strategies of the Last Fifty Years” (Auburn Media), “Communicating for Impact: Strategies for Grantmakers” (GrantCraft), and “The Prenups: What Filmmakers and Funders Should Talk About Before Tying the Knot” (Active Voice), which together have strengthened the field of media activism. He has worked in diverse storytelling forms, including for playwright/actress Anna Deavere Smith and the Columbia Center for Oral History. He has masters degrees from the Divinity School and the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
